MPs Call UK Asbestos Situation a ‘National Scandal’
MPs deeply concerned with the amount of schools that fail to meet asbestos management guidelines
The Department of Education has estimated that more than 75% of UK schools contain asbestos, causing members of parliament to describe the situation as a “national scandal”. The all-party Parliamentary Group on Occupational Safety and Health called for a scheme to remove the potentially lethal material, for better information to be provided to parents, teachers and staff, and for more asbestos management inspections to take place.
